Between November 1, 2011 - January 1, 2012, SOMA Church Community (for the 3rd year) is participating in Advent Conspiracy with other churches across the nation.
Every year Christmas gets busier and busier with more gifts, and for some more debt. Americans spend 450 billion dollars on Christmas while each day 3,900 children die from water born illnesses because they don’t have access to clean water.
This year we once again want to challenge our community to make more of Christmas. Christmas is about JESUS and his revolutionary love for humanity to come to earth to save us and we want to celebrate His love appropriately.
Advent Conspiracy believes that Christmas can become a world-changing event again! So let’s resist the consumerism of our culture and join together to spend less this advent season. Instead celebrate Jesus’ birth through relational giving. Then take the money you save and give it to those who need it most. It will change their life! And sacrificially giving this year will free you to enjoy JESUS this Christmas.
We are partnering again with a non profit organization in Sonoma County called Kids for the Kingdom® to help provide clean water to a village in the Nakuru region of Kenya. If you choose to participate SOMA and Kids for the Kingdom will create a certificate that can be given to friends and family saying money was donated toward this project in their name. This certificate can be used as your Christmas gift to friends and family. Write the recipients name on your giving envelope with the amount and we will have the certificates ready the week before Christmas.
