The people of SOMA Church Community value living in authentic community so much, it is a focus in the church's name! Please join the women at SOMA as we share life together and discuss what it means to live in Gospel-Centered community.

We will enjoy brunch while discussing chapters in the book "Echoes of His Presence: Stories of the Messiah from the People of His Day" by Ray Vander Laan We will sign up for food the week before the event.

The book is out of print so I have 10 used copies to sell for $6 each. If more are required we can find more so let us know if you are interested.

Babies are welcome. Kids are welcome also if they can eat and play quietly while we eat brunch together and discuss the topics. (I am sure the young women at SOMA will be having their own brunch and book discussion as they typically do.)

Meeting & reading schedule - each chapter can stand alone so if you miss a week or two please come to the other weeks.
August 24 (Introduction, Chapters 1, 2, and 3)
Sept 7 (Chapters 4, 5 and 6)
Sept 28 (Chapters 7, 8 and 9)
Oct 12 (Chapters 10, 11, and 12)
Oct 26 (Chapters 13, 14, and 15)

Summary of the book:
Journey back to the world of Jesus' day and take a historically- sound, culturally-accurate look at the Man, His ministry, and His message.
ECHOES OF HIS PRESENCE takes you on an inspirational pilgrimage beside the springs of En Gedi, into the Judean Mountains, behind the walls of Jerusalem, and into the life of Christ. You'll experience the anticipation of the expectant Jewish culture, a people eager for the coming Messiah, and bask in the wonder of His compassionate ways. And you'll witness the confusion of Jesus' last days on earth, the savior they had longed for...the One they didn't want.

Through historically accurate, fictional stories of Jewish people, ECHOES OF HIS PRESENCE spans the gap between the history of Jewish tradition and the nature of Western thinking, making the Savior's ministry relevant, significant, and more meaningful than ever to today's believers. You'll understand Scripture in its cultural context...and you'll fall in love with Him all over again.
