How do a good God and a suffering world go together?

April 15, 2007 Speaker: Paul Ortlinghaus Series: The God Questions

Topic: Apologetics

The question of how "a good God" and "a suffering world" go together is one of the most difficult questions. God is good. The scriptures declare this and we know this by experience. But this world is filled with hurt and suffering too. We know this by experience. The day after this teaching (Monday, April 16) our country experienced a horrific tragedy on the campus of Virginia Tech. So where was God? Where was a good God?

In this message we don't pretend to have all the answers... nor do we pretend to have easy answers. We look honestly at the issue through the life of a man named Job. We talk briefly about an analogy that might help in understanding this. And we ended our evening watching the Rob Bell/Nooma video called "Rain."
