Ephesus: The Triumphant Power of the Gospel

April 6, 2014 Speaker: Paul Ortlinghaus Series: Acts: What Jesus Continued to Do and to Teach

Topic: Book Passage: Acts 19:11–20:1

The triumphant power of the gospel over the kingdom of Satan frees us to confess & renounce sin, and smash our idols.

A note on Idols:
When it comes to idols, we are naive if we assume they are only physical objects like statues. The reformer Martin Luther noted that "Whatever your heart clings to and confides in, that is really your god." Pastor Tim Keller has been extremely helful in our day to help us understand that an idol is anything that is functionally more important that God…a functional savior. Idolatry is making good things ultimate things. Taking relative and created things and making them absolute.
