I Never Knew You
Preacher: Brent Kompelien Series: Hard Sayings of Jesus Topic: Hard Sayings Scripture: Matthew 7:21–23
Near the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches about the nature of a true disciple: someone who does God’s will. He says that there will be people who claimed to do things in Jesus’ name, but when they stand before God at the judgment Jesus will say, “I never knew you.” How do we understand the importance of obedience? What is the relationship of grace and obedience? This passage explores how a confession of faith (saying, “Lord, Lord”, Matthew 7:21) and an obedient life are tied together.
