Our Leadership

Our Leadership

According to 1 Peter 5:4, the Head of the Church is Jesus. He is the Senior Pastor. Under the Headship of Jesus the church is led by a plurality of godly leaders, qualified according to Titus 1:1-16 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7. At SOMA we call these leaders Pastor-Elders. The main purpose of the Pastor-Elders is to oversee and care for God's Church through teaching, preaching, vision, direction, and protection from false doctrine and theology. Assisting the Pastor-Elders in leading the church are a team of servant-leaders that serve as Deacons according to 1 Timothy 3:8-13.

If you need to contact the Pastor-Elders please see our Contact page.

Paul Ortlinghaus
Ortlinghaus2017Paul is married to his high school sweetheart Kristen and they have four kids: Meena, Calvin, Ginger and Luther. Paul grew up in Sonoma County and graduated from Rancho Cotate High School (Rohnert Park). While studying at Biola University and then Talbot School of Theology dreams of church planting were born and after being a youth pastor for almost fifteen years he took the leap. Paul's greatest desire as a leader in the church is to help people begin and mature in their relationship with Jesus. He enjoys playing the guitar, drinking coffee, eating dark chocolate, reading theology, and of course cheering on the San Francisco 49ers.
